Fond Memories of Billy Ankenbrandt, RIP, CLASS OF 81

I was in the car behind him when he lost control and flipped over. We tried to get him out while the car was upside down and he was stuck in it already gone, when the cops got there. I will never forget that night. Billy was a great guy you just had to get to know him and he was taken to soon just like so many other of our brothers and sisters from Plainedge High School. I miss hanging out with not a care in the world back in the 80's the best of times. Rip Billy, Eddie Vinny, David, Richie, Ricky, Johnny, and so many other of my friends so many gone makes me sad to think about but I will never forget the great memories we all had, We were bad ass crazy and at times it still comes out of me even at my age now. In my head I still think I am 17 yrs old doing donuts around the flag pole at Plainedge or bleach burnouts in front of the school on a warm summer day with the windows open and all the smoke going in the school and Whitty running out chasing us or Mr Pelegrino. Good times. Handball at the courts making out on the bleachers beer runs during school and yes still tough enough to beet the jocks in sports. and hang with the most beautiful girls in Long Island. you all know who you are. I'm glad and will always treasure I got to live and grow up in the best times ever. Kids today have no clue how to have fun like we did. Miss my childhood.

Billy Ankenbrandt, RIP, CLASS OF 81

For those who dont know the name, or just dont remember, Billy would have graduated with us in the class of 81, he was tragically killed in a car crash on Jerusalem ave December 7th 1980.  his death haunts me every year, and every time my own son goes out in his car on a friday night.  One night myself and a friend were hangin out at Calvert manor, four guys from Seaford started in with us. I was a pretty small kid and my side kick was tall and really skinny. Billy saw these guys picking on us and even though at the time he didnt know us that well he got involved anyway.  We were never bothered by them again.  Most people at school didnt like him or didnt know him. good guy and taken from us before he could grow up and prove it.  I wont forget him and I hope Im not the only one. Hug your kids.
